National News Agency – Health in Gaza: Two children die of malnutrition

NNA – The Gaza Ministry of Health announced that two children in the Gaza Strip have died due to “dehydration and malnutrition”, at a time when the United Nations has warned of an “imminent” famine.

Agence France-Presse reported that the two children died at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City in the Israeli-besieged Strip, ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Khudra said.

“The number of deaths from famine among children due to drought and malnutrition has risen to 6,” al-Qudra confirmed.

Al-Qudra added: “We call on international organizations to take immediate action to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the northern Gaza Strip.”

UN According to the agencies, it has been more than a month since the last humanitarian convoy was allowed to enter the northern Gaza Strip.

For its part, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that two children had previously died of dehydration and malnutrition at the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, which Al-Qutra had previously reported.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported a 50 percent drop in the number of trucks entering Gaza so far this month compared to January.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs cited projections that “the entire population of the Gaza Strip faces a crisis or worsening food insecurity.”

The office warned that more than 500,000 of Gaza's population of 2.4 million “face catastrophic conditions characterized by food shortages, famine and depleted adaptive capacities”.
