Learn about the “Red Arrow” missile used by al-Qassam forces in Rafah | news

In the first such development since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), has revealed its use of a Chinese guided missile known as the “Red”. Arrow” to target an Israeli military vehicle.

On Monday, Al-Qassam Brigades broadcast footage of an OFK engineering vehicle being targeted by a “Red Arrow” guided missile west of the Tal Zorob area in Rafah city, south of the Gaza Strip.

The Red Arrow is a second-generation anti-tank missile and is a type of missile guided by a wire-optical system.

The Red Arrow missile consists of an anti-armor missile consisting of a warhead, a solid-propellant missile and a control unit connected to the launch pad via a wire to visually guide the target.

It has a high ability to hit targets at a distance of 3 to 4 kilometers, and is considered one of the most important missile systems relied on by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army since the late 1980s.

The missile was produced in 1980 and was used in the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the wars following the Syrian revolution. It weighs 25 kilograms and can be launched from combat vehicles or attack helicopters.

In an earlier report published by Sputnik in 2021, the Chinese military has developed several types of third-generation portable anti-tank missile systems, including missiles similar to their American counterpart, the FGM-148 Javelin.

Add quality

According to military expert Col. Hadem al-Falahi, the “Red Arrow” missile – which the opposition claimed recently entered service – represents a quality addition, as it enables it to attack vehicles and armored vehicles from a distance of 4 kilometers.

Al-Falahi added – in an analysis of the military scenario in the Gaza Strip – that this type of missile is highly capable of hitting vehicles and armor.

Al-Falahi believed that the discovery of this missile was a sign of having more weapons capable of hitting armored vehicles.

Al-Balahi said that today’s action confirms that the reality is completely different from what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says, and refutes the occupation army leaders’ talk of an imminent declaration of victory against the Qassam forces.
